Yesterday St Joseph's celebrated Grandparent's Day. Our grandparent's enjoyed a morning tea in the shed. Then we all participated in a liturgy. After that our grandparent's came back to the classroom to see what we have been learning about and to show them around the art show. Thank you to all the grandparent's who were avaliable to come, the children really enjoyed the day.

Mary MacKillop Day
On Friday we celebrated the cannonisation of Mary MacKillop. A lot of the children dressed up in 1800's clothing. We started the day with old school lessons; spelling test, maths and homework. We discussed how school would have been when Mary was alive including classrooms, lessons and punishments. We also had a visit from Sister Margaret who made sure the class was ship shape. We enjoyed a wonderful liturgy in the church then a family picnic in the parade area. The children then participated in some olden day games. We finished the day with a concert in the church.
Thank you to everyone who dresses up and participated in the day. Another thank you to the parents and children who supported the art show.

Welcome to a very busy Term 4!
Welcome back for term 4, I hope you enjoyed the holidays with family and friends. This term is extremely busy; therefore it is important to ensure that you read the newsletter for upcoming events.
This Friday, 8th of October, we are having a Wacky Pants day to assist the Jones family with costs related to travelling to Townsville for sports representative duties. The children can wear different shorts to school but still need to wear their sports polo, school socks and shoes. A gold coin donation is requested.
Next Friday, 15th October, is Mary MacKillop day at St. Joseph’s. Students are asked to dress in period clothing from the 1800’s. A Letter has been sent home this week with examples of clothing. Hiring costumes is not required and please do not send children to school in their ‘best’ clothes.
Artworx also starts next Friday night, 15th October. The grand opening on Friday night is for adults only, however I hope you can bring the children in to view the artwork on Saturday between 10am and 3pm.
Thank you for your support,
Lauren Mitchell
